Creating safe, resilient, and connected communities.

Kia haumaru, kia kaha, kia kotahi hoki ngā hapori

Otago Neighbourhood Support is a charitable organisation formed in 2008.

Our area is the Southern Police District (south of the Waitaki River to Bluff/Stewart Island) but our active focus is across the whole of Dunedin City. We offer advice, support and encouragement to Neighbourhood Support Groups across Otago & Southland.

We have 7,500 households as members, and we bring people and neighbourhoods together to create safe, resilient, and connected communities.

We work alongside New Zealand Police, Civil Defence Emergency Management, Fire and Emergency New Zealand and The Dunedin City Council to equip neighbourhoods to improve safety, be prepared for emergencies and support one another so that our communities are great places to live. We are part of a national and international movement.

Being involved in Neighbourhood Support comes in many shapes and forms.

You could meet regularly or as needed, stay connected online or by email, host barbecues or events, volunteer to be a street coordinator, undertake some neighbourhood projects, or even start your own group.

There is no membership fee – we are free to join!

Whatever works best for you and your community!
